WTF IS BIKE POLO?
Bike Polo originated in Seattle circa 2000 as a way for bike messengers to unwind after work. Its hard-nosed, DIY participants are more likely to end a match with beer and pizza than power bars and gatorade. Now you can find local leagues across the globe playing underneath dingy street lamps on shabby tennis courts, abandoned parking lots, and other neglected places. With team names like Outlawz Birds, Call Me Daddy, and Crazy Canucks, it's a sport that's gleefully irreverent even as it gains legitimacy as a competitive game.
